Jennbizzle Reviews: ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit

Last month I ordered a huge haul from ELF. Now that I’ve have a chance to use the products and incorporate them into my makeup routine, I’m happy to start reviewing! One of my favorite products in this haul has got to be the Studio Eyebrow Kit. My eyebrows are very sparse, but dark. For years, I have been filling in my eyebrows with shadow. Do you know how difficult it is to find matte brown eyeshadow (that you can buy at a drugstore and does not come in a palette) to match my eyebrows? I had found the perfect one, I believe it was from Maybelline, only to find that the company had discontinued it. Last year, I switched to a wax based eyebrow pencil and  I was pleasantly surprised. When I heard all of the great reviews for the ELF eyebrow kit, though, I knew I had to try it.

About the Product

Description provided on the website: “Create brows that are fuller, thicker, and more defined! The pigmented wax defines and shapes brows and the color complementing setting powder keeps them looking arched and perfected. The doubled sided taklon brush has one side to help arch your brows while the other side aids in filling them in. This duo provides lasting color definition for a naturally beautiful look.”

My Review

I love this eyebrow kit. I love that it comes with a wax-based product and a powder. I love that there are different colors because all eyebrows are not created equally. I start by applying primer to my entire eye, including brow area. Then, I highlight under my brow. After that prep, it’s time to start the eyebrows. As a rule, I generally don’t use the applicators that come with the product, so I have to say that I did not test this one. When I bought the kit, I also purchased the Studio Small Angled Brush (and I have found that it is similar size and shape to the applicator provided). This brush works perfectly for shaping my brows and applying the product.

I start by picking up the wax-based product with my small angled brush and I apply it in the shape of my brow. I also take this time to sweep the brush in the direction that I want my eyebrows to take shape, so that I’m doing less rearranging later. After that, I use another elf brush that I have always used to do my eyebrows, the Essential Eyeliner Brush. I use the eyeliner brush to apply powder to my eyebrows and that basically gives my brows a bit more dimension because of the difference in color between the two products. It also fills in any spots that the wax-based product might have missed. After that, I use a brow defining gel (I’m using a clear one by Chella from an old BirchBox right now) to finish my brows. With this process, my brows look vibrant and fresh all day long.

  • Likes: The wax-based and powder products, the variation in color for dimension, the pigment and durability.
  • Dislikes: I wish the “kit” included a defining gel as well, that way it could be a one stop shop for brows.
  • Would I Purchase? I purchased this product and I will continue to purchase it
