Jennbizzle Reviews: Allure Sample Society

No Compensation

Allure Beauty Box

I’m an absolute freak about checking the Amazon Daily Deals, and one day this box popped up for half of the regular Allure Sample Society Beauty Box subscription price. With a deal like that, I couldn’t pass it up. I still didn’t know what would be inside, so it was definitely a risk. However, I was mostly pleasantly surprised with what I received.

Butter London Lippy Tinted Balm in Apricot Sunray – $20

Butter London LippyThis was the first thing I saw and I was so excited because it was a FULL-SIZED Butter Lippy! However, it immediately let me down because it was totally melted in the tube. I scooped it all out and shoved it back in, now I apply it with a lip brush, but it’s not the same.

Butter London Lippy SwatchI’m so bummed, too, because the color is fabulous. It’s supposed to be coral, but it’s so understated that it’s more peachy. Since I wear a really natural look most days, it’s perfect for my daily routine.

LA Source Ultra Moisturizing Hand Therapy – $9

la-sourceI literally used all of this in two applications. It is ultra-moisturizing, as it claims, though it’s also a little greasy. I think the scent they were going for was “natural”, but it still smelled pretty perfume-y to my sensitive nose. I really wish there were some more in this small sample.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair – $58 (for a full-sized product)

estee-lauderI passed this onto my mother-in-law, since she’s been trying to find the best anti-aging products. Knock on wood – I’m not in the market for these kinds of products yet.

RGB Nail Polish – Oxblood – $18

rgb-oxbloodI was also really excited to have a full-sized nail polish in Oxblood! Unfortunately, this nail polish was a bust. You need minimum of three coats for it to not be see through. I actually applied a white base coat and then three layers, and then a Seche Vite top coat. It was ridiculous. And after all that, it chipped all over the place within 3 days.

Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base – $48 (for a full-sized product)

burberry-fresh-glowThis was a super tiny sample as well, and I haven’t really had time to do my research on it. Which means, I still haven’t tried it. I’m interested to try it as a strobe-type highlighter in my contour routine. We’ll see!

My Review

My overall impression is that the Allure Beauty Box has really top of the line beauty samples. I SO wish that my lippy wasn’t melted. It still bums me out. And that nail polish was horrendous. I’ll never buy that brand, ever. Basically, two out of the five products were worth my while.

This was my first box, and I’m definitely more inclined to purchase a subscription at some point. Unfortunately, I  can’t afford to be subscribed to every beauty box, so I always cycle through a few subscriptions a year. And I really hope to see more like this on Amazon, since I’m more inclined to purchase a one-time box than be roped into a subscription!

What do you think about the Allure Beauty Box Subscription? Have you tried it yet? Love it or leave it?
